Meet the Team: Shae – Hospitality PR Pro
Since PR is all about relationships, we asked our team a few questions so you can get to know us a little better. We would like to introduce you to our Senior Communications Strategist and hospitality PR pro, Shae Geary.
Shae is a seasoned professional with over 17 years experience representing world-class travel and hospitality clients. Formerly PR Director with Four Seasons Resorts and a consultant for a wide variety of resorts in California, Hawaii and Mexico, Shae began her career in Hawaii for six years with the state’s largest PR firm.
Over the course of her career, Shae has spearheaded numerous campaigns involving everything from hotel openings and property renovations to anniversaries and special events. Her expertise in communications and all things hospitality includes a broad range of niche markets – spa, golf, recreation, weddings, dining, luxury, family and green travel.
Shae holds a Bachelor degree from Arizona State University and Master degree in Mass Communications (with PR emphasis) from UC Santa Barbara. In her spare time Shae enjoys playing soccer, running, training and spending time with her husband and two kids.
I’d be a marine scientist who studies whales and/or dolphins.
What’s one word you would use to describe yourself?

I love the Olympics, listen to Howard Stern and prefer eggs and bacon for dinner, not breakfast.
What super power would you like to have?
The ability to teleport like in Harry Potter.
What would a “perfect” day look like to you?
A morning run at the beach, breakfast at Beach Break Café or Pipes Cafe, boogie boarding/surfing with the family, soak in the Jacuzzi, then a backyard bbq with family and friends.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in the past year?
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
Best vacation you’ve had?
Any vacation that takes me to a tropical location with warm water is the best vacation ever.
What’s your most embarrassing moment at work?
I once dented a rental van taking a tight turn in a parking garage when my co-workers were in the car. That was pretty awful.

Since I’m more of a single song downloader (sorry music industry!), I’m not sure about the albums, but Taylor Swift, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Katy Perry and Dave Matthews Band are all favorites

I’ve traveled the world and have visited three of the seven modern wonders of the world: Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal and the Pyramids at Giza.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Not rinsing dishes before they go in the dishwasher

What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Besides my husband and kids, it would have to be chocolate.

Do you have an office nickname? What is it?
Not that I know of…..maybe you all call me something behind my back.
What’s the best/worst gift you have ever received?
The best gifts I’ve ever received are cartoon drawings of our family from my husband. I frame them, but he makes me hang them in the bathroom or my office where no one can see them.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Anything that gets me outdoors…running, playing soccer, hiking, casual bike riding, gardening, boogie boarding, etc.-
